At South Coast Marquees, we’re not just another company – we’re a tight-knit, passionate family-run business dedicated to turning our clients’ event dreams into reality. Since 2005, we’ve remained steadfast in our commitment to delivering personalised, professional, and friendly service, paired with the highest quality marquee and event equipment available.
Our journey began when AJ, our Founder & Director, started with a modest selection of Capri marquees, catering to intimate gatherings and small-scale weddings. Fast forward nearly two decades, and South Coast Marquees now boasts a diverse offering of over 15 marquee styles and sizes, consistently erecting multiple large-scale events each week.
As we continue to grow, we’re excited to offer opportunities for driven individuals to join our crew from April through October. Moreover, we have clear expansion plans on the horizon, making this an opportune time for the right individual to join us full-time, year-round.

AJ
Founder / Director
AJ loves the outdoors! When he’s not building marquees, you’ll find him surfing the high seas, walking Jango the Viszla or entertaining his 3 daughters.
Becki
Director
Becki manages everything behind the scenes, so you’ll probably have spoken to her at some point.
In her spare time she loves to run and cook lots of curry.
Shaun
Worker
Shaun has worked with SCM for over 3 years and returns each summer on his days off his full time job to help the crew. Shaun particularly enjoys the team events.

Career FAQs
We operate a 7-day-a-week schedule during the operational summer months from April – October
We do request flexibility on your schedule.
For the majority the day begins at 7 am in the warehouse
We aim to be back by 7pm. However, due to the nature of the projects we cannot leave a job unfinished.
The size of the projects vary so some days we may finish at 3pm and some days will go beyond 7pm.
Yes, we are always growing our team and making new connections.
We love great morale and we like our staff to enjoy work, so we aim to be as flexible as possible with your diary commitments. However, organisation is key to our success, so please notify us of any prior commitments.
Our work schedules change on a weekly basis depending on what’s booked in, but as a business we cover the following counties:
Hampshire, Dorset, West Sussex & Surrey (sometimes Berkshire & Wiltshire)
Very rarely, for a large 2-day setup, we may take a road trip and stay overnight in a hotel. All costs are covered on such occasions and it’s great fun with the team!
We provide the following :

- South Coast Marquees Waterproof Jacket
- South Coast Marquees Hi-Vis
- South Coast Marquees Cap
We request the following :
- Professional Work Shorts (Blue or Grey)
- Suitable Work Shoes (hard toe cap preferred – NO trainers)
- Lunch
- Enthusiasm
We suggest the following :
- Rucksack with 2x Spare sets of clothing
- 2nd Breakfast | Snacks | 2nd Lunch…and maybe a 3rd
We use company vehicles to transport the kit to each site. These have between 3-5 seats so you’ll either be a driver or a passenger, depending on the role you have applied for.
We begin and end the day at the warehouse. You are required to make your own way there and back.
On a straight forward day we aim for the following :
- 15 minutes in the morning
- 30 minutes for lunch
- 15 minutes in the afternoon
However, our schedules can be varied (Small projects | Large Projects | Travel Time) so break times may vary.
Absolutely! We all have so much fun! And some of the locations we work at are amazing.
3rd of each month via BACS
We allow the use of phones on-site within reason and do not currently operate a strict policy, however, we request you be part of a team. Excessive use of the phone can affect team morale.
We have a fantastic app that tracks hours with transparency for both you and us. We can both see, in real time, the exact hours that you have worked.

We will notice your strong work ethic, dedication, and potential. If you can prove a commitment and show a strong understanding of our mission we will always be open to discussions for Full-Time work where possible.
We predominantly cater for weddings & large events. This means that come rain or shine (or snow or heatwave…!), the show must go on!
